Thursday, March 15, 2007

so here comes the end of my precious 1 week of march holidays.

its friday! and for holidays, the term friday blues usually comes in. shall sum up my holiday in short.

(digression) oh ya, just on sunday i had a lovely dinner at cedele with dad. Ate this macadamia nut pancake with vanilla bean icecream instead of their sandwiches.

Both the pancakes and icecream are homemade and they taste wondeful! The soft pancakes had many chewy bits of macadamia and the vanilla icecream was the best! its SUPER thick & rich.

okie firstly, i had 2 whole days of food trailing with dear by CAR (a really cute & chic orange one!). yupp he's driving and we're both navigating pretty well to get to our destinations.it was the most thrilling foodie adventure ever; we absolutely rock man.

Monday- couple foodtrail day 1
met up in the morning for brekkie at BK. long since i had their turkey ham croissan'wich.

came with these hash brown patties..

watched Rain's new movie: I'm a Cyborg, but thats ok.

kind of surprised me that the theatre was extremely empty although it was an afternoon screening. reckon there were only about 6 people including us. like come on, its RAIN and nobody's supporting. haha what a sad case.

one dumb movie. the plot was a lil' bit on the childish side but the effects appeared cute (: its about this girl who thinks she is a robot and licks batteries for meals instead of eating. simple setting with a simple ending- the girl takes her first bite of rice with the help of rain and thats all folks.

drove down to valley point for dessert(or lunch actually) at Ice Cream Gallery. we're on a hunt for all the icecreamerys in Singapore, haha!

Disappointingly, this one didn't make the cut. we've tried much better ones elsewhere ):

dinner was my suggestion- scissor cut curry rice along Jalan Besar. i'm always seeing the long long queues here so im curious to justify it.

so ta-dah, heres mine with chicken cutlet & beansprouts.

only cost me $2.20 =x

and his with loh-bak, porkchop, beansprouts and prawn fritter.

the thing about this is that gravy drenched over the rice. its the thickest & stickiest curry with a dash of lu zhi (braised sauce). A very unprentiously good meal (:

Tuesday- couple foodtrail day 2
we're set on good food once again! the day began with an traditional south indian lunch at Little India; Thosai @ Sri Vijaya! (featured as the best thosais on ieatishootipost)

I had no idea how indian-cultured the place was until my food arrived. As the thosai was served, the indian man came with a huge pail of curry and only topped them on-the-spot. i was like wow. the worse part- i realised that no utensils were provided in the entire eating house! dear already knew that so i became the only suaku one =p

Masala Thosai eaten with our bare hands.

i had a plain thosai and it sure fared well. Their thosais tasted oh-so-fresh and pleasant, middling between soft and crispy. Ranked 2nd after my ultimate Casuarina's. oh, the teh tarik here rocks too.

continued to Tekka Market where we had a famous Black Carrot Cake.

then we headed to Mind's Cafe for a boardgaming session together. there was this interesting game but i cant exactly recall its name. Something about building trains n getting to the stations..

our train routes. i won this game (yay) but lost terribly at connect 4, oops! dear is just damn pro.

also munched on a Mind's Black & White Brownie..

it was a great 2 hours spent with him, racking our brains together (: the memories will stay...

dear then drove me up to upper pierce reservoir to see MONKEYS. oh man, there like like sooo many of them infesting the whole place. and people actually go up to feed them despite all these signs;

caught in action!

a scenery shot before leaving;

MORE EATING. Ampang Yong Tau Foo at Upper Thomson Road. heh.

a platter for 2, accompanied with rice. the sauce was so garlicky and savoury!

okay im super proud of our determination to get to Island Creamery. despite our failed attempt to get there the first time, we practised our mighty orientating skills this time round and made it to Serene Centre. rewarding our hardwork, we both had a..

double scoop cup! apple pie & teh tarik flavoured for me; ReverseO & cookiesn'cream for dear.

it was lip-smacking goodness, i tell you. the apple pie one was yummmiee (:

a sinfully packed day for the both of us but i truly enjoyed it.

Wednesday- buy-our-uniforms day

was supposed to meet grace & cass at CCK mrt at 9am but i decided not to join them. the time was early but still alrite, but CCK was the madness part. i take like 1 hour plus to get there!

haha and then when i woke up i got a call from cass. the shop had apparently had no more stocks for the blouses and now they are lost in the west. poor things, they took a cab down to school's popular to get the uniforms instead.

met cass in the afternoon for lunch. ended up at swensen's cause she was craving for western food. we had the executive set lunch which is pretty worth it- free soup, drink n dessert with every order of a main course.

the shocking part comes.. I FORGOT TO BRING MY SD CARD. damn.so anyways i had the pictures taken on cass' phone and im still awaiting her email.

ate the sambal fish which was surprisingly not bad (: had a mouthful of her crayfish pasta and it tasted good as well. wow seems like swensen's improving, lol. Being cassandra, a pasta isnt able to fill her and so she suggested cheesecakes at secret recipe.

went along with it and i had this delicious marble cheesecake. now i'm like hooked to it.

Thursday- lunch with shar

i missed her! haha my childhood bestie; and im so awfully apologetic that i forgot to wish her on her birthday. kays, i know im mean. anways;
HAPPY 17th BIRTHDAY, SHAR!
elaine loves you loads & you know it.

she introduced me to Korean food @ Hotel Meridien's food court. it was a good recommendation since my tofu soup was real yummy. following on we shared a yami yogurt, yet another marble cheesecake from secret recipe and she got her coffee fix from cartel's mocha frappe.

oh yes, its damn funny how we made cartel's new NO SERVICE CHARGE policy our joke of the day. btw, cartel strapped off the service charge, how nice.

Friday- today

gosh, dear's not feeling well. please rest well and jiayou for the NTU interview tmr!

please believe in yourself, you are one capable boy who achieved so much on your own. go down there and show them what you're made of!

i know you can do it, and god will be guiding over you.

alrites, thats about it.

i dont really feel like starting school ): all those lectures and tutorials are killing me already. its friday but i have yet to get my skirts altered and daddys leaving for canada tmr and i would have to go to school myself. i'm so not looking forward to monday.

& I MISS MY FELLOW TKGIANS. all my lovely mates are scattered in different schools now ): i miss xinya jess choy jeannie serene peckhong belle ferrie ddy nana fang gab brina and all the wonderful people, sigh!
