What is better than having a dinner on a mountain peak, with quality food, breathtaking view and a comfy atmosphere?

The best part is, you can actually experience it in Singapore! (:

was surprised when dear told me he had reserved a place somewhere for our pre-christmas dinner this year.. then i was doubly surprised to find out it was formal dining at
The Jewel Box @ Mt Faber.

Up there you had 3 dining choices, the indoor one was The Altivo, outdoor was Faber Rock and the third was Sky Dining on a cable car.
here's a display sample;

His choice was alfresco dining at Faber Rock, where its like a rooftop penthouse with a beautiful view.

choices on the menu was rather limited, but enough for you to find it difficult to decide what to eat. both western and local food was available, with a range of desserts and wines.

The entire atmosphere here was great, with the whole cafe nicely lit and decorated with dazzling blue christmas lights and christmas songs being played. Each table had an orange little lamp to add some brightness.

tea and coke for us (each cost a frickin $5)

Time to introduce the dinner, haha!

His Old Fashioned Fish & Chips ($22);
"battered fillet-of-fish, french-fries, salad and tartar sauce"

Not entirely crispy, only a little at the sides while most of the crust was soft. The fish was very fresh and thick, and i think its codfish instead of dory normally used.

My main was a Seafood Ragout ($30);
"mussels, prawns, scallops and salmon served with lobster sauce, young vegetables and roasted potatoes"

every piece of seafood here was extremely fresh, but i especially love the 2 pieces of thick succulent scallops. There were also 2 huge mussels, 1 juicy prawn, a salmon and a codfish slab. my only grouse was that the lobster sauce was slightly too bland.

Drums and Wings ($12);
"chicken drumlets and stuffed boneless wings with sambal sauce"

The drumlets were breaded then deepfried, just like those in KFC. The boneless wings were much more special, tasty and tender.

Although there wasnt much chicken meat in there to savour, the wings were stuffed with glutinous rice;

My choice of dessert was as usual an Apple Crumble ($9);

By the time the crumble was served, the vanilla icecream was already melting. i loved the combi of cool icecream together with warm crumble, but i still prefer the crumble at n.y.d.c =p

He had an Assorted Mini Cheesecakes ($9);

haha initially he wanted to try something else but i showed interest in this so we got this in the end. 4 different types: Original, Coffee Marble, Oreo and Blueberry. He only liked the oreo one and found the rest too cheesy. But i felt it was okay cause i love cheesecakes and so i cleared up some for him (:

A picture in the dark. LOL.

All so full and satisfied (:
The bill totalled up to hundred plus after all the taxes and charges were added. gosh, so much for a dinner, but it was well worth it.

Another good thing about eating here is that during this christmas season, there are 2 sessions of Jewel Christmas Light Show and Snow Fall. Yes, there was snow, although man-made but added much christmas feeling to the dinner. Not forgetting the Santa Claus and Angel Fairies appearance, all at 8pm.

Guess wat, you can even purchase a box of "snow" from the souvenir shop;

Attempted to call for a cab but dumb Comfort kept saying no cabs were available to come up. Finally managed to get a cab from someone who took it up and he sent me back to kovan. yupp thats about it, our christmas celebration this year (:

Thanks so much dear for my first formal fine-dining experience!

still doing up the korea photos cause there are like close to 1000 from my camera and 700+ from dad's. alot alot alot. already getting sian of editing them le.
