As i promised myself, i returned to Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak- the very next day!!

haha yes, dear and i went back for another round of good nasi lemak. but this time, we saw 2 queues instead. There was actually another Nasi Lemak Stall just right beside it with an even longer queue. Named "No.1 Adam Road Nasi Lemak", they had extra dishes like Sambal Prawn and Mutton Rendang. So, he decided to be adventurous and try it.

For me, i chose to stick to Selera Rasa because of its rice. Also, it was a good chance to do a direct comparison between the two stalls.

Selera Rasa's Full House ($4)

No.1 Adam's Nasi Lemak's Adam's Special ($4.50, plus 50cents more for an extra otah= $5)

Visible Differences: No.1 Adam's was more crammed, with 2 extra slices of fishcake, roasted peanuts and a small portion of mutton rendang. There was also a banana leaf laid as a base. However, notice that the colour of Selera Rasa's chicken wing was of a much nicer golden brown hue.

Digging in;

It was a rather tough fight. Both is good in different aspects of the nasi lemak. Selera wins in terms of its rice and chilli, while No.1 Adams is better in the otah, and according to dear, the chicken wings. (full report in my foodblog)

Even so, i think Selera Rasa would still be my top pick- just the rice and chilli is enough to win me over. thumbs up! oh ya, and the perfect drink for nasi lemak here is a mug of cool Teh-o-bing (:

After filling our tummys, we headed to East Coast Park for some cycling. Walked a long way to locate the bicycle rental shop that i always patronised but it was closed down. made do with another shop nearby.

Bicycles for rental at $6 onwards for 2 hours.

Dumped our bags into the lockers and then started our cycling. Stopped by at a breakwater to rest and collect pretty seashells (:

thats the swash beside a breakwater. (lols geography..)

thats him on a breakwater. (fine, i know its common sense)

the weather was lousy and it started to rain like mad. had no choice but to take shelter at one of the small pavilions and wait the rain to stop. the winds were strong and its was damn cold! To maek things worse, beside us was this sickening old man smoking and polluting the damn air; arrgh. by the time the rain subsided, it ws time to return the bicycles. LOL.

dinner time @ marine parade food centre.

Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee ($3) from Ah Liang FHM

Okay i just found my next favourite hokkien prawn mee. The broth was just of the right thickness, not too watery. The whole dish was light-tasting and non-greasy, with 3 fresh prawns. The only disappointment was the not-at-all exciting chilli sauce.

Also had dimsum from Neptune's;
Hargow ($2.20)

Just pure fresh prawns as its filling! The prawns were good but the rough skin could be better improved on.

Lobster Puff ($3)

Fat, entirely crispy deepfried "puffs" filled with squid paste and prawn bits.

Fried Chives Dumplings ($2)

Filling was juicy, with chives, turnip shreds and mushrooms but the outer was slightly soggy and oozing with oil.

Cabbed down to our final stop; my recommendation-
The Cheesecake Cafe @ east coast road.

Highly rated by many online bloggers, we decided to go and try it for ourselves. haha someone actually said that you can forget about the cheesecakes at n.y.d.c once you've tried theirs, and you know what? i guess its true..

we ordered 3 of their cheesecakes and settled down on our cosy sofa seat to enjoy them.

Peach Jelly Cheesecake ($6.90)

This is one of their house specials, featured on many newspapers and magazines. Light and zesty, with a layer of jelly to add on more delight with every bite.

Strawberry Oreo Cheesecake ($6.20)

Similar to Secret Recipe's, but with oreos and an oreo base instead. The base was slightly too soft for me. BUT, the cheesecake was heavenly! Light in texture, with a mild cheese fragrance, and without the sweetness overkill. simply indulging~

Walnut Cheesecake ($6.20)

Something chunkier, with pieces of cruchy walnuts within the smooth cheese. The cheese taste was just right, not too strong, and the texture was great.

So far the best cheesecakes i've tasted! dear actually suggested we come here once a month to try all of their cheesecakes, what a good idea! (:
